I’m about to start demoing my kitchen. Behind the wall is an old vent that I’m planning of replacing with 2″ PVC. If I only use this for venting, according to code, how many fixtures can I vent off of it? I ask because in the future I may want to put a bathroom in the basement and want to be proactive by adding piping for future use.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
JNF

You can vent a 3" closet drain with a 2" pipe, if it's a dry vent. You would need a 3" main vent somewhere else, as the aggregate vent needs to equal the house drain outlet.
Is that 2" pipe also the drain for kitchen fixtures? That would make it a wet vent for the future bathroom below. In that case, you should install a branch vent down to future bathroom connected to 2" vent above any kithcen fixture inlets.
