I’m sure you’re all thrilled to hear this, but my reason for the title is that I’d like to incorporate a mirror into my shower re-do.
The idea is to have a piece of mirror made that I could inset into the tile. A thin heating pad is installed behind the mirror to prevent fogging:

Any of you ever tried this?
Thoughts?
Thanks!

I always shave on the shower. I have one of the water-heated mirrors on a little articulated arm that threads onto the shower arm.
I like the positionability - winter time I can stay under the water! (open shower in drafty old house)

I shave in the shower with no mirror. For real. You can feel your way(use the force,Luke) unless you want a 'sculpted' look. Try Walgreen's for a similar product. I'd look for a battery operated one for safety. Silicone onto tile.

I think the mirror is a great idea as I too shave in the shower. However I think the heating pad may be over kill. At no time have I ever wished my mirror had a heating pad. A fresh splash of hot water will clear it right up. Just my opinion.

$250 ..for a mirror ? ..... go for it man
personally I have an aversion to electricity and water

I just put a little soap on my hand and wiped it across a plastic mirror I had in the shower. It remained clear and unfogged long enough to shave.
Get yourself a badger brush from Duluth Tool Co. They have soap too, but you can usually find it at the drug store or grocery.
all these years i've been shaving in the shower with no mirror. who would've thunk ?
110v in a shower on an object i can touch ?
i dunno.
as i get older, i like to keep it simple.

How would you be able to touch the heated pad if it is behind a mirror?

because this product isn't meant to be installed behind a permanently affixed mirror. the mirror must be removable for access to the electrical connections. i don't think it is meant to be installed in a shower either. the really scary thing is that you can get this in a 240v version.
from the installation instructions:
http://www.clearmirror.com/forms/ClearMirrorLeadsInstall.pdf
Install in accordance with these instructions.
Do not install if product is damaged.
Use caution with all electrical appliances.
Do not bend, alter, submerge in water, or use
product for purposes other than described.
If doubts concerning the electrical connection
arise, consult a qualified electrician.
Mirror must be larger than ClearMirror heater.

I shave in the shower but one glass side of the shower is next to the vanity that has the 3 mirrors that swing out (so you can see hairs you didn't use to have while stand'n in front of it...) anyway i just swing open the center one so it's face'n the shower glass... never a prob with fog'n... wife even got me a shower mirror once this works much better plus it's like 16" wide and 24" tall.... i get to see how pretty i am naked :)

Creme Rinse/conditioner is the best for shaveing. Anything is better than soap , I think. The creme rinse really softens the stubble, and has enough whatever in it, to sorta sterilize any nicks.
I STILL HATE shaveing, but not as much as an itchy , greying beard.
Damn....this is like some kind of weird Breaktime cult. I have always shaved in the shower.I'm not confessing to anything else.......

Yeah, it is pretty funny. Before this, I was the only one I knew.
I'm waitin' for DieselPig to weigh in - last arguement, he said I had to turn in my man card 'cuz I was a sitter, not a stander.

Damn. Me too. I favor the braille method over a mirror though. After 25 years, I kind of know where everything is on my face!
conditioner will make your beard soft too!It is also good for healing scrapes and burns. I found that out when I had some sort of a wound that was uncomfortable, especially with soap. But the hair conditioner got on it and was instantly feeling better.I figure they put some sort of protein's and collagen in the stuff to strengthen hair that is also used by the body for other tissue repair. Sunburn, scrapes, scratches, insect bites - they all feel better and heal sooner when they get a dose of conditioner in the shower - as long as it isn't some of that heavily perfumed stuff.

I shave after I shower, over the sink---- no soap, no cream, just good ole HOT water.
I do use those twin blade razors that have that lil white strip.
In my younger days I used an electric shaver but then found how painfull it was to use it after a few days of growth.

I haven't shaved in so long, maybe 45 years, I think it's a quaint hobby.Glad to hear you men have something to keep you busy.
Cousin It, is that you??If you come to a fork in the road,You can eat your lunch.
Another shower shaver here.Conditioner and a cheap plastic mirror.A medium to large guy named Alan, not an ambiguous female....
NOT that there is anything wrong with that.
I shave my wife in the shower and she shaves me! Hee Heee Hee!
Do you find yourself runing out of hot water on those ocasions? Don't ask me how I know.
LOL!

I shower shave too! Makes it easier to clean up after getting the hair on my legs. besides, they don't fit in the sink very well.
Seriously, it was about ten years ago that I was doing a remo house job when the lady gave me a mirror to install in 'his' shower because he shaved there. To me it was a foreign concept that I'd never heard of, then I got to thinking about it and tried it myself.
Immensely practical and time saving, plus frees up the vanity for her.
I have a flex hose type showerhead, so I can hit the mirror with the hyot water to warm it up enough that no condensation forms while I shave. I forget the last time I have used shaving cream.

Shaving?? What's that?
I too have been shaving in the shower for years, cleanup is super easy.I use old hard disk drive disks as a mirror ( same as a cd, only metal)You can drop them and they wont break, theyre super shiny and theyre free if you have an old HDD lying around. In a previous life I used to fix computer equipment and I used to take the HDD apart for the shiny platters inside. Always thought I'd find a use for them for something. As it turned out they were great as shaving mirrors. Dan
Great idea, Dan.. I've just inset a piece of glass mirror (cut to fit and grouted in) in place of a tile in a few shower surrounds I've done as a shaving mirror. (Indeed, a little soap makes for a crystal clear view--no need for expensive heated glass). The round hard drive disk would be great inside a square tile, though. Thanks for the tip!
$25 or $40 for a fog-free one that sticks to the wall with suction cups is simple and effective. The best benefit is the DW no longer complains about hairs around the sink, and I no longer need a loupe to find all of them so that she doesn't complain!
Plastic, suction stick, Fog-free mirror from Target $7. Last about a year.
I had one like that and the mirror went bad.I went to an auto parts store and got a peel'n'stick glass mirror the same size more or less that was made for rear-view mirror replaceements

Hi, my name is Paul...
<Hi Paul>
... and I'm a shower shaver. I find my razors cut much better when I shave in the shower vs. over a sink. Even if I'm using the same shower gel, same razor, and doing it just after I get out of the shower.
I too have that little suction cup mirror stuck on the wall. I always know when the cleaning ladies have stopped by, because the mirror has been restuck on the wall 1' lower.

Shaving is the first thing I do when I get out of the shower. No sense wasting all that water and energy. Think green.
Beat it to fit / Paint it to match
This unit might not be rated for use IN the shower. In fact, I'm not sure putting an electric heating mat in the shower is code compliant -- never thought about it. (Can you put electric radiant heat mats in shower floors?) If your dead set on this idea, I'd figure out some way to heat the mirror with the hot shower water -- maybe a PEX grid behind the mirror in the plumbing between the valve and shower head. BTW, you'd also need a tempered glass mirror.
FWIW, you can get mirrors that have a TV behind them too, so you could also watch the Today Show while shaving in the shower! Now THAT's high-end! ;-)

I've installed electric heat mats in showers; all code compliant. Requires a 24v transformer available from supplier.

Duh! -- low voltage. Didn't notice the low voltage shower mirror option in the OP's link. Makes more sense now.

Hmmm. Maybe its time to move from the sink to the shower.
I can't believe this hasn't been moved to the Tavern...
DW got me a mirror for the shower but I dont use one .

I, too, have shaved in the shower for years. I'm never used a mirror.
