I have a strange loud banging noise coming from my attic area in one part of the house. Seems to be worse at night after sun goes down or even the middle of the night. Really could use some help. It’s very loud when it happens and occurs once or twice a night typically. Temps are moderate given home is in Arizona. I was lucky enough to catch it on my phone video in attached file near the end of the recording. Thoughts?

Sounds like the rats are playing tennis.
(Alas, could be anything. One possibility is that you have a forced air system with remote dampers and one of those is opening/closing. Another is that it's simply thermal expansion contraction between two fairly rigid members in the structure.)
(Or it could actually be an animal coming and going through some sort of metal flap.)
Describe the house construction a little bit -- ordinary wood frame? Metal roof? Tile roof? Forced air ducts in the attic?

Wood frame with stucco siding. Flat foam roof. About 3 ft of non accessible attic space. Appreciate all suggestions.

My thought was the same as junkhound's.
Sounds like duct work or sheet metal cooling down.

thx much for all the suggestions. There is some ducting up there and I don't have access to it except to pull all the drywall off. This weekend I lowered the water pressure and installed water hammer devices on the washer lines. House is wood framing, stucco sides and flat foam roof. Attic space looks to be about 3 ft but I have no access. Any other thoughts, please let me know.
If you have a fireplace or wood stove with a framed chase for the chimney you probably have a sheet metal pan on the top of the chase. Since it's so exposed to the sun and cooling night temperatures it can make a loud popping sound as it cools and heats up again.
