I recently purchased a house that seems to have some sort of moss/mold growing on the roof. does anyone have any ideas on how kill moss growing on a shingled roof? The moss is growing on the north side of the house which only gets about four hours of light in the morning. The growth is extremely bad in front on the two doghouse dormers on that side. Thanks for the help.

Classic solution is bleach/water 50%/50%. Spray or pour it on, make sure it's saturated.
Or, try Roundup type vegetation killers.
Don't scrape the moss off; it might pull some of the stone with it.
Copper or zinc strips above will help control future growth.
Hey...where's Mike Smith with his magic moss killing shingles? I forget what brand he recommends. Jeff "That's like hypnotizing chickens........."
I've just killed it off my roof. I first sprayed with a product I got at HD called "Moss Out", which contains metalic zinc. It killed the moss, turning it from greed to brown, and then about 2 weeks later I went up with my pressure washer on low and blew it all off...and the crap flies everywhere, so be careful. I then put zinc strips up near the ridge, and haven't seen any of the green little critters since.
