I got to install a wood stove chimmney pipe through a metal roof. The ribs of the metal sheets are 7 inches apart. the chimmney is six inches. Do I go between the ribs and maybe create a dam or hit the rib dead center.

I bet Gabe would know. (Sorry)
*Johnnie,My roofer (best roofing sub I've ever met) says if the penetration is 3" diameter or smaller to center it on a flat, i.e. between the ribs, for larger stacks like chimneys or boilers, center them on a rib.The reason is the smaller diameter stacks won't dam the roof up on most rib profiles and it's easier to work with and looks a real lot better. The larger stack would dam up the roof risking a leak and looks bad. By centering it on a rib you get a neat cut at the edges, it's easier, and less chance of a leak.We just put a whole bunch of holes in my new metal roof today, and I have to agree with him. It looks pretty good.
*Johnnie,Metal chimney jack goes over chimney, a piece of your roof metal goes over and around the jack( just like shingles) and slides under your ridge cap. No dams. If you can't form the jack to the metal profile use a closure between the roof and jack.6" seems small, is single wall stove pipe to code?KK
