A friend of mine suggested that I use RAB motion sensors to replace the heath/zenith po
that have burned out again — and again — and again.
I cannot find anything in the local stores except for the low end stuff.
Has anybody used RAB? They are pricey, but if they work, well………..
Any thoughts on other suggestions?

RAB products are okay: http://www.rabweb.com/products.php Tork is another decent brand: http://www.tork.com/tork/default.aspx You could also look at Intermatic: http://www.intermatic.com/products/photo%20controls.aspx
Thanks. I have a problem with Intermatic. For instance, I have installed their digital timers, and have found that they seem to have a high failure rate, although those that last a while seem reliable.Their older motorized timers are also cheapened and don't seem to last.Tork is another game. I had forgotten about them. THanks.
and there's Hubble...

Hey,
I just looked at the Hubble one.
I need to change mine out to something I can leave on if I want to. Any idea of how the manual override works?
Went fishing yesterday and put 4 more fish in the tank..........

I have a RAB and it's great. Usually the manual overrides involve 'flippping' the switch quickly back and forth.
If the Hubble breaks, you need an astronaut to fix it ... ;o)

most any brand does that by manually turning them off and then right back on...
others by turning them off and waiting a bit before ya turn them back on...
same process to reset them to auto function...

That's kind of what I thought.
Only problem is I will have to fish a wire up from the basement for a new switch.
I was talking to a sparky bud the other day and he was saying that there was a type that once activated would stay on all night. I don't want that either so I will just fish a new line.

I realize that but unfortunately it is direct wired to the panel.

can you switch it at the panel instead of pulling a new wire...

I suppose the breaker would act like any switch but the problem is the basement is unfinished and it is a pain going down there.
Not a big deal to pull another wire as the panel is very conveniently located. I will just run some wiremould and put a surface mount box in.

RAB are what are usually carried by electrical supply houses. They're much better than what you find at the hardware store.
