My vinyl fence was built with a cheapo gate cut from a fence section. So the whole frame is made of pieces of hollow rail that run horizontally at top and bottom of the regular (immobile) sections. The vertical rail pieces are screwed into the horizontal ones. After 8 years the gate is falling apart.
I was thinking of using flat angle and T/straight solid metal brackets to hold the rail pieces together. I would have to use some kind of bolt and drill through both sides of the rail, probably with brackets on both sides.
Would this work? Or is there a better method?
Thanks.

For that first corner I'd see if I couldn't fish a piece of wood inside the vertical to provide some strength. For the others you can try steel "mending" straps on the corners, but it will be hard to reliably fasten to the plastic.
At some point you're better off scrapping it and making a decent wood gate.

Thanks, Dan.
That looks like the route I have to take.
