Hi! I’m new to this forum, but I’ve been a long time reader of the magazine. I’m building a twelve foot high wall of bookshelves, and I need to install a rolling ladder. I’ve only found one manufacturer — Alaco (sp) — from an ad in FHB. In the spirit of the free market, I’d like to find another company who builds rolling library ladders so I can get more than one quote. Also, Alaco is in CA and I’m in OH, so freight will be an issue. The ladders I see in Borders bookstores are a different design and clearly a different company, but I haven’t been able to find a name.
Can anyone help?

Franklin - I was in the Ball & Ball Hardware showroom in Exton PA yesterday. They have a pair of antique rolling library ladder wheels for sale (the real thing) for $120. These are heavy-duty 'for paint' finish type (probably paint black). If you're interested call them at 800-257-3711.
