If the cheapest type of roof is the asphault shingle type, how much more would a metal roof be, than the asphault shingle roof? How much more than the asphault shingle roof would a tile roof be?
I’m in southern Arizona. The blast of constant sunshine and intense heat, combined with very high wind, plays hob with the asphault shingle roofs. Metal & tile, though, seem to resist the elements well. There is an old saying, “The best is the cheapest.”
Does anyone who has estimated roofing costs have a percentage figure for the different types of roofs?

Too many variables to generalize easy but many metal applications similar to architectural grade asphalt. Figuring cost per foot per year of life expectancy makes metal cheaper. If you like the tile look check out Met-Tile.
