I am looking at buying a home that has an addition that has not been finished on the inside. It is one room 35 feet by 15 feet. The trusses are framed with 2×6 lumber and they run the 35 foot span. Is this adequate? Thank you, art

Is there a spec sheet there that shows the trusses were engineered for that application? We usually get an information packet when we get trusses that explains how to brace them properly, and I think I remember there are specs in there as well. I am pretty sure the trusses should be stamped that they meet certain requirements, too. Was the addition inspected by any building department?

Probably, but too many variables not listed - spacing, truss type (kingpost, W, scisors, etc.)., snow area, storage load, slope, bolted or nail plates, intermediate nail plates, lumber grade, etc. etc., more etc, et al.
If you can't calculate a truss yourself, get a library text or net tutorial and learn (easy if you know trig), otherwise follow Jim's advise.

uh huhh...I'm framing a roof at the moment with that kind of span. 2x4 bottom chords and all the rest is 2x3. Means nothing though without the other variables. Roof load/ wind speed/pitch etc.
My first thought is - Are you sure they're trusses? It's unusual to see 2X6 lumber in a 35' truss unless you're in a heavy snow area. What holds the joints together - metal plates, plywood, or ???
A bit more info would help us determine what you've got.
Or how about a digital picture?

Art,
Roof trusses are designed by the manufacturer not the building designer. What about this gives you the willys? A 35 ft span is not a big deal. Is there something else that dosen't look right?
