Hi, folks, my first post here.
Before I graduated from law school in 1990, I was a woodworker for 15 years. 12 years later, call me a failed lawyer, or that it wasn’t my destiny – in any case, it hasn’t worked out. I recently took a job working for a company that repairs and remodels houses and I’m loving it and doing well. It feels good to be getting paid to use tools again, and not once have I wished I was parked at a desk staring at a computer screen!
So my question: At the ripe old age of 49, is it too late for me to start a career as a carpenter/builder? I’m in good health and seem to have a facility. And if I could, how would I go about getting the training, etc.?
Thanks!

you're loving it and doing well. What more can you ask for in a job except viable pay. I'd say you're right on time for your career move. If it's homebuilding you're leaning to then go work for an experienced pro. Finish work sounds like you're already close to home. Remodeling houses: experience is your best teacher with an eye to the books.
