I will be laying Armstrong Alterna 16″ floor tile. Is it OK to use sanded caulk in the 1/4″ gaps between the tile. My previous attempts at grouting have not gone well.

Sanded Grout
I used sanded caulk (from Home Depot) around the perimeter of my tile floor and around a Granite countertop as well as between wall tile which abutted a wood crown moulding. Big mistake . The caulk shrunk and cracked and looked horrible. I dug it all out, not a fun job. and just used grout to fill the gap. It has worked much better with the only issue being wood shrinkage in winter which leaves a small gap. Bottom line, I would definately not use sanded caulk to grout tile.
prout
I would not caulk either.
what has been your problem grouting? Maybe your technique is off.
