Just for background, I’m looking to “upgrade” my roof trim as part of a larger re-roofing project. Right now it’s just vynal & coil stock in the soffit and coil stock wrapped plywood along the rake. I’ve been playing around with 3D models of different concepts, since, if I can’t build it on the computer I sure can’t build it in real-life, and 3D models can be changed at zero cost.
Anyway, I have a shed roof which intersects a headwall, and this results in rake trim hanging out in the middle of no where. It’s hard to believe but I’ve not been able to find finished examples of such a detail. I tough I’d ask how you would finish this detail? I’m assuming I’d do some kind of return, though I haven’t drawn it, and I assume there will be a 6″ corner board on the 2 nd floor which I also have not drawn. I’m always nervious about water infiltration at the top of a slope… that and having some detail stick out as obviously idiottic.

Well.....
try playing around with a return at the top.
You've got returns elsewhere, the only difference is this roof pitch.
in essence, it would look like the other end.
I suppose you could return quick at the sidewall height change or run that roof plane past a bit.
try that on sketch up and post the pictures.
too bad the file size was big, squashes this type to REAL SMALL.
