OK, House with full foundation attached deck bridged to garage. Garage is built on a slab. There is a roof over part of the deck connected to both the house and garage. The job is to close in the deck with patio doors on both sides. The deck will be detached from the garage and placed on footings. however the garage and roof will still move from frost. I have an idea that would allow the patio doors to stay stationary and the garage and roof to float. Has anyone ever done something like this? How did you do it? |

sounds like you need horizontal siesmic joints if i'm understanding you correctly.
they would function just fine to allow movement of the the structures around the walls...ever put those in? they are easy.
