I am removing my Heatilator fireplace and replacing it with an electric fireplace that is ventless. As far as I can tell the existing metal chimney is supported on the fireplace. I’ve looked in the attic and opened a hole in the wall on the 2nd floor and I don’t see any chimney supports. So that’s why I’m assuming all the weight of the chimney rests on the fireplace. How do I support the chimney in order for me to slide out the old fireplace? Any comments will be appreciated.

If you don't need the chimney, why not take down the pipe?
you don't want that air chanel to the outside, no?

Thanks for your comments.
You support it any way you can. Or simply take down the stack.
