I am in the process of trying to determine the most efficient and energy saving design for a master bath addition. My client has an electric 80 gal. water heater that carries 2 and one half baths and feels they will definitely need to add another heater to power a full bath with a tub and shower. We have discussed placing an additional electric unit next to the bath as well as connecting a gas unit to the current electric one, turning the electric unit to a warm setting, and allowing the gas unit to bring the water to the desired temperature.
