Where can I buy oak strip flooring 2 1/4″ wide that would come close to matching my existing flooring?
Hi. I live near Philadelphia PA about 40 miles straight north of it. I’m getting ready to lay down some flooring in a small foyer (about 60 sq. ft. of flooring needed) in my house and need to match existing oak strip flooring. House built in 1952. The existing flooring is definitley oak and it looks like a mixture of the red and white species. Not face nailed. Can anyone point me to any company where I can get this stuff? I would like to match this new flooring with the existing as close as possible. I’ve tried to keep tabs on some local architectural salvage companies and what they have to offer as far as salvaged flooring but no luck so far.
Bruce hardwood (at HD) has a very very similar product (the real wood stuff not the laminated stuff) and the color almost matches but there’s a slight salmon/pink tone to the finish compared to my existing amber finish.
If I can’t find it I’m tempted to make this stuff on my own from lumber obtained from my local hardwood lumber yard and match the finish but I don’t want to go that route yet.
Thanks

That's a tough one
It's not likely you'll find new wood to exactly match your old. Wood changes color with age. One thing you might do is tear some old flooring out of a closet for your patch, then replace the closet wood with new.
Yeah, a flooring guy did this in my MIL's house (built in the 50s), to patch an area where a door was widened. You absolutely could not tell which boards had been replaced.
