Who moved all the furniture?
Who moved all the furniture? (post #193506)
jhausch on Mon, 09/13/2010 - 20:18
I've not been here in a while. Wow, things have changed.
I was looking for my old thread where I put the occasional update to my blog. . jhausch.blogspot.com
I just finished with the cable rail and I wanted to share how I did it "economically" (Junkhound would be proud. Is he still around?)
Can anyone find that old thread? I've not updated the blog with pics of the cable rail yet, but I will tomorrow morning.
Jim.

One of the (few) advantages (post #193506, reply #1 of 7)
One of the (few) advantages of the new format is that search actually works. Here's the first of several threads found searching for "cable rail jhausch":

We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. --Thomas Edison
That was one of the threads I (post #193506, reply #3 of 7)
That was one of the threads I replied to, but not the core thread about the whole building process. I'll search more tomorrow.
Thanks for the help, though.

J, click on your My Profile, left upper corner under your name. (post #193506, reply #4 of 7)
When you get to your profile, you'll see ACTIVITY-click on that and all the posts you've responded to will be there. If you're not piffiin or dan h you should be able to find something that looks familiar.

I was not sure if I should reply to my first post on the thread to add a new entry, or reply to the last post in the thread.
Anyhow, thanks for the tip. I found it.
Now, how best to get around this new place?

Well.............. (post #193506, reply #6 of 7)
Now, how best to get around this new place?
That might not be as easy as you were used to.
To get to the latest posts I have found the RECENT POSTS button up in that same box that held the PROFILE button to be the easiest to master.
And Flat mode viewing which is the way I had the old breaktime-found right by the first post in a thread. That puts the replies in chronological order. Threaded will put the posts with the replies below what they reply to..................
Usually the [original] after the name found just below the reply title will take you to that post when clicked on (in case you can't figure what the hell the poster is replying to.........................

We're not sure the NEW "title" is working or not. In a multi-page thread it would only show NEW on the page viewed, go to the next page and it would evaporate.
Best of luck.

Flat viewing mode "feels" much better - thanks.

He is. Many others fled like a pox pandemic. Don't know what that says about Art (or Me?!?!).
There was a major catharsis here caused by Taunton's choice of new forum hosting software. Actually, IMO, the software isn't the problem (I've actually grown to accept it as bugs get shaken out). Implementation, communication, and pacing are the root of the problems.
Back to your question about finding your thread...have you tried searching for keywords that you know exist in your thread?
