Any web site builders?

Sphere's picture

I have been putting it off, due to my inherent ineptitude with this type of construction.

Anyone who has a proven track record and satisfied referals I can check, may contact me at  spheramid@aol.com

Just tell me how much it is gonna cost for what you can provide.

I will be happy to provide the content as well as I am able, but other than that, I can only throw $ at you.

Jerrald Hayes did Andy C's recent site, and rumor has it that Luka does that sort of thing too.

I emailed Luka, but it is still dark thirty over there, and he has first dibs, but I am open to other prospects.

I just wasted a huge amount of time, trying to upload here, and am pizzed off..so I'll just make a link to my site when I get one up, I think. I hope. Therefore I am.

Thanks T.

I know Jerrald's work and what it's like working with him so all I can say is two thumbs way up and yeh, he is for hire. He has an interesting pay schedule but I'll let him tell you about it...
I just wouldn't wanna get between you and Luka is all.
See what happens when you connect with people at these fests : )
Good luck!

...... and what does your company charge for your fine homebuilding expertise?

Considering that a simple website of 4 pages can be generated in as little as an hour or take as long as a week,  the "it depends" price does fall into that price quote.  Same thing as home building and/or renovations.

Well, that is not the issue. The issue is that I posted HERE and was contacted by a co that "found" me on THREADS. Therefore, I am suspect of the pursuer, being as they can't even discern where they obtained my email addy.

I'll not challange a price for something that I am either unwilling or unable to do myself, but the intent and or tactics of soliciting my patronage, when questionable is a point to be pondered.

I am leaning on the side of educating myself and doing my own site, so that the control of modifications is solely upon myself, and not being connected with an entity that will continue to feed off of me.

As to your question of what is my homebuilding expertise cost?

Call me when you have a roof leak...I'll be happy to discuss your options of how bad you want it fixed on YOUR terms, and price accordingly. (G)

Look into Yahoo's sitebuilder. I am using even though I used to be a web developer for the fed gubment, a while back. Used to know the tags and structure, but have been out of it for while. The Yahoo tool gives some simple templates that can be customized. Only $11 a month to host...

I guess I misinterpretated what you wrote,  and I appologize.  I mistakenly thought you were taking issue with the prices.  My"question" about your charges ...  I really wasn't looking for a number,  just trying to make a point about pricing for expertise.

As said on the older original Saturday Night Live (Gilda Radner?)...  "Never Mind".

If you wish to make your own website,  there are some inexpensive programs for non-techie people to do just that.  Also,  whoever is your ISP you might already have some free storage space and free online tools to create a basic website showcasing pictures of your work.  This way you can experiment to see if you want to do it yourself.

Of course when you are ready to "publish" your work online,  you should get your own domain name.  It will be much more professional than a webpage hosted on AOL or yahoo!

I have used goDaddy.com for a couple of website's hosting.  They have some very inexpensive basic packages.  And they can handle your website domain name registration.  They also have some included tools for making your own website.  I think they even have a web forum that you can ask questions about what you are trying to do.

Starting slow is good idea.

Think about what you want it to look like,  what it is you want to "say" to your audience.

goDaddy's Economy Plan is a pretty good deal:

Hey Sphere..

did you get yourself a website yet?
It depends on what you want it to do for you really, but I was in the business a bit and my brother has been doing them since the beginning. Because of all that I have a friend in Romania... thats right... outsourcing at it best. LOL.. well the fact is that she is a great lady and a teacher and does this in her part time because she is teaching herself. She is very talented and if you like the clean and simple imagery of my site, and if you can send her pictures she could help you get a basic website for less the $500. (She can live for a month on $400). The place where you want the expertise is the indexing so search engines and people can find you.... you also want to buy and maintain your own domain name etc I can help you with that its pretty simple

email whatever if your interested Arthur

... the name sounds kinda familiar yes .. well the name 'notsobig' was notsobig back when I started using it in 1998. The same year the book that inspired it came out. Since then she has become a very big name and after talking with them we (the legal advice) decided that there was the possibility of confusion in the industry...LOL.. after considerable deliberation I have settled for thesmallbuildingco.. it it still in keeping with our general philosophy that bigger is not necessarily better.. and we like the implications of small ego's but big on quality.. and it seems lot of people appreciate it..

Hey Arthur - You guys ever do any building out in Egremont?

Romania wasn't built in a day.
