Excellent carving.
I love to see the signs of handwork in an otherwise "machined" world.
I do some woodwork too, but never get the opportunity to (attempt) work like that. Got anymore details on that piece?
Thanks! Actually, I just signed up for a carving class at UNM-Taos, and this is my first ever carving. It is just a piece of 8/4 sugar pine (rough on the other side), and is a Nicolai Fechin inspired design. If you haven't ever, check out the book 'Fechin: The Builder". He was an amazing artist, and a pretty damn good carpenter. The house he built in Taos is a museum now.
I did the entire piece with one chip carving knife.
