What about this project house?

no doubt............. (post #205136, reply #3 of 23)

an engineer is necessary.

The ridge certainly needs a beam...................I suppose the rest is cosmetic...........................to a point.

Evidently prior remodeling was done w/o the usual input of the Building Scientists-considering the vapor barrier is probably on the wrong side, according to climate zone (why do people keep using that as an informational tool to tell us where they live?) which I normally get confused about when buying plants.............

so yes, I would need further information b/4 I jumped on the band wagon on this one.

as an aside-did you get your captcha button pushed?

Captcha, I dunno.  Haven't (post #205136, reply #4 of 23)

Captcha, I dunno.  Haven't had it pop up on the last couple days, so I guess it's gone.  So, you think shingles, paint and new windows isn't enough to bring the old house back to shape?

Edit, captcha is back. Uggg.

Well........ (post #205136, reply #6 of 23)

the windows might hold up the roof, so yeah-it might be enough.  The paint won't add much.

I find it odd that there was that bogus tye-raid, then the victory dance and then nothing.  I really thought his antics brought about some change.....................whoa, sounds so democratic.

At any rate, beautiful weather we're having, no?

I expected as much.  The weather on the other hand was outstandingly fantastic the last couple days!  Today was as perfect of a day as I could ever want.

Yeah, the old house might need a couple studs replaced too.

Almost a pity........ (post #205136, reply #8 of 23)

that I'm so busy.  I could really enjoy screwing off right now.

Thanks, I suppose I was off the list when I made that post.  I made a post to Calvin the night before and went to bed.  Didn't notice the captcha so it was still there the next morning.

I'm hitting the post button to see what happens.

They read as little as editors do (post #205136, reply #17 of 23)

Paul,

The rest of the guys didn't read the heading that PaulCP posted his comment under. If thery had, they would have noticed that is a new folder for FHB's new Project House. Maybe I should say OLD project house.

Anyway, their lack-of reading is admirable, they would make good editors.

I just posted a quick update on Project House in a separate post. The Captcha issues, I will address in the same old CAPTCHA post.

But you are free and clear on that list, so, no need to go there.

I was just up in Belfast last week, weather was fantastic.

You caught a break in the weather you lucky dog. It has rained so much in the last three or four weeks my yard has turned into a swamp.where I need my muck boots.

Speaking of getting bogged down, I still don't know what this project house heading is here for. Did it escape from the blog side of your website?

I'm not sure which of my posts you were replying too here, so m aybe I am out oif context.

But thanks for doing what you did on the captcha. Any progress on getting rid of it for other people?  When they show up here and find out how hardit is to work with that thing, they get frustrated and go away, some never to return.

This has been mentioned several times in the suggestions for a better forum posts.  It would be easier to go to the old style of number system, but this is what you have.

Above, click on the [original] that you see just under the "subject" box:

This will take you to the post replied to, it'll be on the top of the page.

On most web browsers, if you (post #205136, reply #20 of 23)

On most web browsers, if you place the cursor over "[original]", the browser will show you a URL at the bottom, with the post number.  Then you can look for the same number by placing the cursor over the post title.  Tedious, but it works (except for old posts that don't have titles).

You can also right-mouse-click on "[original]" and select "show in new tab".  That will get you right to the target post in most cases, without losing your current position, and without regard to which page you're currently on.

the numbers game (post #205136, reply #21 of 23)

I don't think a long number is worth the space it takes up.  Remember-in reply to post 35?  Now that gives you an immediate idea how far back the post was that was replied to.

For number counters, knowing you've made 20,000 posts might be a head rush.  And for totals lookers, I guess it nice to know there's been a million posts made at BT.

And the click on the [original] was what I was trying to convey, on this forum the number is inconsequential to most readers.  Especially when you use the notification email-that number doesn't take you to the post in question...........................

or

does it now?

I'll have to check.  Don't use it-just see the thread title the notification is from and go from there.  Seldom copy/paste the address.

EDIT:

If I'm logged in and paste it on this forum, it goes to the post.  Windows IE

If I take it  and paste it on the browser while not being logged on-it just takes me to the first post.  AOL IE.

I was just saying that the number in the URL was an option to figure out which post was referenced.  Yes, it's awkward, but it works and I use it from time to time.
