I'm looking to get a Fein Multimaster knockoff. Anyone have a recomomendation?

FHB did a review on these about a year ago IIRC. You might be able to get it online.

A friend of mine has the Dremel which he likes, but I've never used it.

I have the HF version that tops out at $79, and it has worked very well for scraping floors and cutting maple - ya know, light duty stuff ;)

I bought the Dremel Multimax. It has been used on a number of home projects to include drywall cutting, cutting back trim for flooring and detail sanding without any problems.  I have pleased so far.  The tool does run hot and I have a number of hours on it, not sure what the long term outlook will be but I got my money's worth so far.  The only complaint so far would be the cost of the sanding pads and the lack of grit selection.

check out the Rockwell.  They had one at my building supply company and it looked pretty nice.  I think it is a little heavy, but that made it feel solid.  I have not looked at any reviews, but check it out.  Thats the only one I have found that I would be interested in, so far.  But I have not really been in the market for one.  Jay

If all you want is a Fein knockoff, any of them will do.

I had a Dremel, it ran hot enough that I burned my hands. It's a hobby machine and I don't buy hobby tools any more.

I don't know the others: I gulped hard and got the Fein Top model and I've been happy ever since, except for the cost of blades, but that's what you get.
