Portaband Saw, which one

Jigs-n-fixtures's picture

I need to buy a new portaband saws for the guys; any recommendations, as to which brand?

I suppose the real question (post #203956, reply #1 of 3)

I suppose the real question is how much you use it.

For the corded ones, I'd get whatever the local supply house has; they're all fine saws. Indeed, even the %75 Harbor Freight version works quite well- though I wish I had a case for it.

For the cordless versions, I recommend the Makita simply because I have other tools on the same battery platform- and Makita really hit a home run with their 18v Li-Ion line. If you had no other cordless tools, I'd be biased in favor of the original: Stout. Stout also has an optional stand that lets you use it as a benchtop tool.

Hi.. I do not know what is (post #203956, reply #3 of 3)

I have three of these units (post #203956, reply #2 of 3)

I have three of these units and beat the heck out of them. A Porter Cable regular cut and deep, and a Milwaukee deep cut.. Booth of these units are corded and still working cutting pipe and angle. They booth work geat and about the same.

I would say get the deep cut because you can buy the blades at the box stores when needed.
