You ever standin’ there when the client makes a site visit, talking calmly and professionally, and THE DARNED COMPRESSOR KICKS ON? Then you have to pry the client out of the roof trusses. . .
I’m thinking of a little circuit that makes some nice tasteful beeps before the compressor starts. Maybe, “Warning, warning”. Maybe a trumpet fanfare? Hmmmmmm

Forrest,
All of my compressors have an on/off switch. Do you have a leak in the lines or connections?

Well, it might have tiny leaks - it's not like the client always makes an appointment!

some guys just gotta try to engineer the fun outta everything
I like it.
Can't have them clients compromising the integity of the roof trusses.

Yer kidding, right? That's when I make a break for it. Sometimes it takes forever for the compressor to come on.

Call me Ishmael. Some years ago -- never mind how long precisely -- having little or no money in my purse, and nothing particular to interest me on shore, I thought I would sail about a little and see the watery part of the world.
Years ago I came to work one day and there was a fire because the air compressor tried to start and was unable to. Now that I have a shop I always turn the compressor off when I leave.
Yeah....sounds great. Because the the sound of the compressor kicking on regularly throughout the day isn't enough drive me batty. Thought the cell phone ringing constantly would solve that problem, but ney.
Adding a beeping sound may be just the ticket!

... but has it happened when you left a compressor at a client's house?!
You and Andy beat me to it! Middle of the night, client's house, heard about it when we get to the job the next morning. Cured me of ever leaving the compressor plugged in or switched on overnight! Actually put a bit of a fright into the homeowner.

Me, too. They were peeved at me. Never since that time, though. Lesson learned.Bill
You guys must be fond of replacing tools. A compressor, portable or stationary should be turned off and bled everyday.
Chuck Slive, work, build, ...better with wood
I have two compressors--one always does that, one never does that. I need to go thru the first one with teflon tape and new quick-release fittings. The second one, I recently left it unused for more than a month and it had 125 lbs. in it when I threw it in the truck.
