how do i frame six sided roof ? should i start with center common rafters at centers of each flat walls? and then put in the six hips. be warned 3 of sides are on walls the other 3 are one lvl headers over open space. thanks.

Coopster, you might have better luck posting this at Breaktime.
For what it's worth though, if the rafters won't be exposed, I would run opposing hip rafters first, then the rest of the hip rafters, then infill with the common rafters. I've built gazebos and turrets like this and it works great.
If the rafters will be exposed, it often looks better to start with a pendant at the top, say a 4x4 or 6x6 with bevel on the sides that match up with the hip rafters.
