Hello All,
I am in the process of finishing up a minor redo of our master bath. We ripped out the old cheapo home despot toilet-pedestal sink-vanity and replaced them with hopefully better quality stuff.
The new sink vanity has a stone (can’t remember if its granite, or marble or what-its black…) top with built in sink. It came with a matching stone backsplash. The backsplash is meant to be attached to the vanity via its wood backer. The problem is, is that the wood backer is 3/4″ thick and that would stand the vanity away from the wall by that amount-which to us would look weird. We want the back of the vanity to sit flush with the wall.
We have to remove the backsplash from the wood backing- I think its just glued on so maybe a soak in the tub would loosen things up??
Then we have to affix the backsplash to the wall. How can I do this? Would construction adhesive be strong enough?? Can I just ‘glue’ it to the wall?
thanks,

You can just glue it to the wall. Only a few dabs of adhesive would be needed. Probably construction adhesive would work quite well. Then caulk the seam between the backsplash and the countertop.
I don't know what was used to adhere the plywood to the stone. It is probably not something water soluble. Have you contacted the manufacturer?
More construction people see posts in Breaktime. You might want to post there.
Yes - you can glue to stone to the wall using construction adhesive.
For removing the wood backer, try soaking it - it can't hurt. My guess is that is would be glued on with polyurethane, which is pretty tough stuff that water won't touch. I would get a sharp 3/4 chisel and try to pop it off. What type of wood is it?
Good luck.
