underground houses
There have been at least 2 underground houses featured in fine homebuilding over the past ~10 years. Can anyone tell me the issues that had these houses and how I can get copies of issues that I have apparently lost.
Thanks
Darrel Stafford

Darrel,
Somebody here might be able to help you, but you'll have better luck at the Breaktime forum, which is the one associated with Fine Homebuilding. This forum is linked to the magazine Inspired House, and while many people here also read FHB, Breaktime gives you better odds of an answer, besides being more active than this forum. There's a couple of people over there who specialize in earth sheltered homes, so they may be able to help you out as well.
Good luck,
Amy

Thanks for the email. I thought I was on the fine homebuiling web site. I will try again.

The search page for the FHB magazine index is at
http://www.taunton.com/cgi-bin/artresult-fh.cgi
A search for underground returned about 30 hits, not all of them about underground houses. A search for "earth sheltered", without the quotes, returned four hits.
What you get for each article found is a link to the table of contents for the issue the article was in. If you can tell from the TOC that you've got the right issue number, then you can buy the back issue if it's still available, search for it on eBay, pursue it through interlibrary loan, etc. The articles themselves are not available through the magazine index.
There is a CD with many but not all articles from previous issues. I don't know if there's any way to find out if a particular article is on the CD without buying it. The web page for the CD is at
