I am trying to locate a fan assembly for a bathroom vent made by Home Metal Products, divison of Mobex Corporation (according to the name plate). I don’t think either of the companies are in business. The vent opening is approx 7″x9″. Of the two bathroom vents in this house, one of the vents is working and only the grill knob is missing. The second vent has all the sheet metal assembly and a place to plug in the blower motor assembly but no blower motor assembly. The house is about 30 years old. Any suggestions in locating or replacing the parts would be greatly appreciated.

There are a number of firms on the internet that supply appliance repair parts. Some of them are quite extensive. I found parts for my 20 year old refrigerator on several. Try a search for something like "appliance parts", first with Mobex in the search.
Bathroom vents are not that expensive, why not just replace the whole thing? Or you could by a new vent, take out the motor, and throw the rest away if you could match the motor size.
I was stymied as to how to take out the old assembly without damaging the ceiling. Your suggestion worked out great. I just purchased an assembly consisting of frame with blower. Cut the frame to size and used sheet metal screws and the unit is humming. Thanks.
