eyebrow window
Help;
I have a gable over my garage roll up door. I am installing a arched top window in the gable. I would like to have a few rafter tails ( 10 ) cantilevering out over the top of the arched top window in an arch shape which would be the same radius as the top of the window and only protrude out from the siding about 12 inches. There will be no sheathing over the top of the rafter tails and there will be no fascia board on the end of the rafter tails.This is just for appearance. There is no room behind the window, just an open garage. Can anyone direct me to a diagram of a method to frame this. Thanks for any help you can offer.
Thanks
Bob Hazard

So their only purpose is to rot?
We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. --Thomas Edison
You set up the eyebrow window (post #191166, reply #2 of 2)
You set up the eyebrow window 'facade' and work the rafters to it from a higher point on the roof (normally) - in your case I would make the rafter end extensions false and use painted Azek -
