There I fixed it: plumbing that almost makes sense

Aside from the fact that there's no trap, its pretty impressive work.

Whalll... that actually is a functioning trap, would tend to clog though me tinks??

Yeah, it's technically a (post #186836, reply #2 of 5)

Yeah, it's technically a trap.  No vent, though, and the trap doesn't have much "head" over it to prevent clogging, plus the long horizontal before the rise will collect gunk.

Probably should dogleg out to a trap feeding a tee into the horizontal pipe, then have vent or at least a Studor coming out of the vertical.

We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I think it was Terry Loves site that had a long post of the WTF hook-ups!!

Is it really a trap? (post #186836, reply #4 of 5)

it looks to me like if you dumped water in it, all the water would find its way down the drain pipe.  I thought a trap was supposed to hold water in the bottom of the "U" to seal off sewer gas from the home, and if that's the case, this one won't do it.

oh, wait. I see, it IS a trap.  Just closer to the sink than I was looking.
