Thin Paver install question??

MBaybut's picture

Hello,

I'm about to start redoing my concrete driveway with thin pavers and I just wanted to know how to level up where the thin pavers meet the street so they're not  high?

Thanks,

Mike

So, you're laying these thin pavers ON the concrete drive?  How so?

Seems once choice (if the above is correct) is to cut the concrete drive on the end and pour a new tapered "apron" so you can run those pavers to the grade of the street.

Of grind the end of your concrete drive-down enough to make the height right.

Or stop the pavers just short and ramp up to them with........................

Hard telling what would hold the best-asphalt or concrete patch.

or maybe using a diamond wheel in an angle grinder, cut a bevel on the edge of the pavers.

easiest? (post #194576, reply #2 of 5)

Take a pick ax to the street. When they come by to repair and repave the road, it'll now be at the proper height.

Actually, what Big Cal wrote. Cut back your driveway, dig down, and repour at a slope, then the pavers will meet the asphalt at the correct elevation.

But my first way is easier.

Thanks both. How far back do (post #194576, reply #3 of 5)

Thanks both. How far back do I cut the drive? Should I use a concrete cutting blade of jack hammer?

I'm not sure your location (post #194576, reply #4 of 5)

But here, every damn development has the worst stinking drive entries known to man.

There is a curb cut but the dam drives are 4-6" higher than street grade, and they call that steep tapered in a foot grading, an approach.

I have to go slow or watch screw boxes "jump" off the shelves in the van.

Taper the ends of those pavers (how thick are they) and call it done.  Warn your biking buddies to approach with caution.

You want it a little higher (post #194576, reply #5 of 5)

You want it a little higher than the street so when they do another lift on the asphalt it will not be low.
