Bath faucet pop-up drain rod won't fit sink hole location
Bath faucet pop-up drain rod won't fit sink hole location (post #197771)

Replacing the bath faucet on a 40 yo sink with 4"centerset design with center hole for pop-up drain rod. All the faucets I've tried have the rod going through the sink at too much an angle for where the hole is placed. It's as if the rod needs to go vertically up/down instead of at an angle for the size/offset of the hole.
Are these rods meant to be bent to navigate the sink hole?
I've switched to a 2-lever faucet from the original 1-lever, Are the 1-level faucets designed with a more vetical rod that would work better on my sink?

I'm not sure what you mean (post #197771, reply #1 of 2)
I'm not sure what you mean when you write:

The rods DO go vertically. It sounds like the center hole is not in the right location.
The rods aren't meant to be bent, but as long as they operate smoothly, there's no harm in it.
I'll admit that i don't pay (post #197771, reply #2 of 2)
I'll admit that i don't pay much attention to faucets, especially the new fancy-smancy ones, but I too have never see a setup where the rod WASN'T vertical.
We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. --Thomas Edison
