doing a rough plumbing project…..what is the maximum size DWV vent pipe that can go thru a 2×4 wall. i think it is a 1 1/2 inch vent pipe. my understanding is that a 2″ pipe won’t leave enough (5/8 required minimum) meat left on the plate. if 1 1/2 inch is the max, can it T (vertically) into a 2 ” horizontal pipe vent above that exits the roof or does it have to connect horizontally to that 2″ pipe so as not to create a possible constriction point (leaves, birds, golf balls etc.)

As long as both pipes are vents you can tee a 1-1/2 into a 2in vertically.
