Pressure balance valve mixing
Just installed a Danze Sheridan D500255 pressure balance three handle shower valve. It works great, but when I turn it off, sometimes the hot water leaks through the valve back to the cold water side, causing other faucets to run warm for a few seconds until the cold water fills the lines. There is another bathroom nearby with another pressure balance valve. What is causing the mixing, and can I repair or do I need to install a check valve on the cold water side?
Thanks!

Defective valve, or (post #197976, reply #1 of 3)
Defective valve, or improperly installed. I gather that in some valves it's possible to install the cartridge backwards and cause this.
We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. --Thomas Edison

It also gets damaged by the plumber during installation. Read the manufacturer's installation guide. Some plumbers think all valves are installed the same way and they go hogwild with their soldering
Solder (post #197976, reply #3 of 3)
Solder in the cartridge chamber.
Suppose to remove catridges durring installation and flush lines before reinstalling.
