Distressed/Rustic/Hand Scraped Hardwood?
Distressed/Rustic/Hand Scraped Hardwood? (post #191256)
Dirty Dog on Wed, 07/14/2010 - 02:40
Although I have no specific project immediately in mind I am always on the look out for distressed/rustic/scraped hardwood or even laminate and engineered options. None of the big box guys ever seem to have much to offer in this respect. I've tried poking around the internet and have never had much luck and there is usually a large premium attached to anything I do find. I know my parametres leave it open to wide variety but I am open to any suggestions when it comes to a rustic/worn look. I'm up in Ontario Canada if that helps. Aslo open to reclaimed rustic flooring for a reasonable price.
Any suggestions?
Thanks

Buy a barn.
We are like tenant farmers chopping down the fence around our house for fuel when we should be using Nature's inexhaustible sources of energy -- sun, wind and tide. ... I'd put my money on the sun and solar energy. What a source of power! I hope we don't have to wait until oil and coal run out before we tackle that. --Thomas Edison

I have distressed wood by charring it with a torch and then wire brushing off all the charred wood. A coat of satin varnish really brings out the look.
