I’m working with pressure treated material. I need to set an ACQ 6×6 pole in the ground for a meter base hookup.
Is it ok to use concrete to set pressure treated material?
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
KT

Concrete will not hurt, nor be hurt by, pressure treated lumber. But, to set a 6 x 6 post, what do you expect the concrete to accomplish? The post will be secure without it.
The new pressure treated lumber is extremely corrosive to steel. Be sure to put a non-metallic spacer behind the meter base at each fastener, and use stainless steel screws. I use plumbing washers at each screw location. You don't want the panel box metal to touch the lumber.
Hey,
I appreciate the info you posted!
Thanks for your help.

I agree with what WayneL5 said--no need for concrete, but it wouldn't hurt (nor help--actually IMO it traps moisture against the post). I usually dig below frost level and maybe put a rock or chunk of concrete under the post and then fill with gravel and/or sand for drainage. Tamp the fill as you go, keeping the post plumb.
I appreciate the information you posted!
Thank You very much!
