I have the original 4100 and have had no problem whatsoever with the fence.  I had a motor problem taken care of by my supplier way after warranty. 

It's not the lightest thing in the world, but being as it's portable-take it back to your tool supply........if that's where you got it.

Otherwise, and I've not really tried this, but have you tried to contact bosch-a quality company like them should at least offer suggestions if this has been a reported problem.
