Does anybody know why ToolCrib sends out new catalogs every month?? Most of the catalogs are the same? Its not like the tools change each month, or do the prices. This has got to be a big expense for ToolCrib.

Many mail order outfits operate under the premise that contacting (sending another catalog) an actual customer (someone who's ordered before...) as often as every three weeks makes more money. I think their policy just encourages people to throw away their catalog, after all another's already on the way.
Personally, I hate it. What a waste.
Ever try not doing business with franchises? It's nearly impossible now. Blame it on Ray Croc.
Ever think how much your next new truck would cost if the cost of advertising was cut out of it? What's a guy gonna do.....
Oops. Got a little carried away. Again..... :)
Any jackass can kick down a barn, but it takes a carpenter to build one.
Ray Croc?

I'll answer for him, Ray Kroc is the founder of McDonald's.
No wonder Mickey D's is a CROC.. Thanks..
I noticed the same thing. Every month and with every box in each order. Seems I can't spit without hitting three of them.
I guess they figure that keeping their offerings under foot will keep their business first in mind when you buy tools. Their offerings are good, I wish they carried MAX and a few other brands, and prices about as cheap as I have seen. Most times they ship for free. Not a bad deal in my book.
Still the catalogs are getting a bit deep. Seems a little wasteful.
I love these conversations . I really get a high from the thinking of being amazed at successful desisions.
"With out sales " is suffacation of the main body. They have computers with results with bean counters operating the influx of information and analizing the out put. Every big business has it . Walmart probably has the most complex system , butat any rate its a big part of business to analize.

When I was in sales it was my goal to make personal contact with every one of my clients/potential clients at least once a month. I burned a ton of gas and shoe leather that seemed wasteful to me at times but one month the importance of it all became quite clear to me.
It was the month after I made over $6,000 in commissions and earned the top sales record for the entire company. (five offices spread out over central Texas)
The next month I didn't even make enough in sales to cover my draw. I was too busy in the "record" month installing and training people on the systems I sold to make my usual round of in person cold calls.
Out of sight, out of mind- no sale. The catalogs are the mail order companies way of dropping by once a month just to see if you need anything. Smart move.
Plus, all those catalogs give you that many more opportunities to recycle and feel the satisfaction of knowing that you are making a valuable contribution to the well being of our beloved planet. Smart sales people always try to make you feel good about yourself.

Or pass the catalog on and broaden the sales base.
They should tell "Land's End" that Saddam Hussein hasn't gotten a catalog this month. I bet Land's End could have a catalog on his front porch within a week. I swear, whenever we move, that the next LE catalog is there within a week.
Here's the Tool Crib part that bugs me....
I've been buying thru them for years...
Got my Dad one table saw thru them about 2 yrs ago.....
Had it sent directly to his address.....

That is a good random thought . I actually did it two years ago and they are still comming. I did buy a tile saw drom them this last winter but thats about it .

Is there catalog any different then the web site, I've orded stuff from them and always had it shipped to work, so I don't get a catalog at homeView ImageGo Jayhawks..............Next Year and daaa. Blues View Image
The catalog is better . If you know what you want you can order online , but you dont get to read and compare. Besides , you have to have something to carry to the out house .

The mystery is solved... I wondered why so many pages were missing.
I thought that you hhad a lap top out there Tim. You don't have any left over dynomite do you?

I can get all the dynamite I want but I dont think I will try blowing it again. That was a very brief thought I had and it passed pretty quickly.

Man something is wrong with the forum today, I just clicked "unread messages to me" and I am getting stuff from a month or two ago, some I already read, others I have never seen.
Anyway, since I have been a buying spree lately and they ship a catolog with every box I have a half dozen laying around, one even has circles around the stuff I want so if my g/f see's it she may actually get me something useful for my next gift...Never be afraid to try something new. Remember, amateurs built the ark, Professionals build the Titanic.
Well earlier I was just gettinhg an error message when I did an "unread to me".
I am getting message back about 3 months. Reported it over in Sandbox.
Weird, sometimes I have to click the unread to me thing twice before it pops them up and gets rid of all the other unread messages, so I kept clicking it because there was no way I had that many messages to me, then I started looking and was getting messages I had read from april and may.

Cag, Bill, Boss,
It appears that there was some problems with the service from Prospero this morning but allshould be O.K. now. If you are still having problems let me know ASAP so that I can report it. Email me for fastest response. [email protected]-MarkSYSOP[email protected]
Glad to know it's not just me.
I clicked the "unread messages to me" and got something like 100 messages.
Did either of you guys email Brian? How many people thought of the Post-It note before it was invented but just didn't have anything to jot it down on?
I'm sure the CIA would like to slip a little something special into SH's next Lands End order. How DO you gift wrap a SEAL team?
You think ToolCrib is bad, My Fiance' (and I, cause I bought something for her from there once) get, and I'm not making this up, about six Victoria's Secret catalogs a week, though they are usually alittle different. Sometimes all on the same day. I think she might buy something from them once or twice a year. They must have huge margins to be able to do that.
Jon
I bought a nice table saw and a few accessories from Tool Crib about 5 years ago. Good prices and free shipping. Probably spent about $1000 that year. Bought a plunge router a the next year. Haven't needed to buy anything since. I used to get a catalog each month from them, but it occurs to me that I haven't gotten one in a while. I probably get them about twice a year now. So I guess the lesson is that if you don't buy anything for a few years, they stop sending out the catalogs. I suppose it's kinda obvious really.
1.) remove cover from Tool Crib catalog
2.) throw Tool Crib catalog in recycling bin
3.) slip the Tool Crib catalog's cover over Victoria's Secret catalog
4.) Look at Victoria's secret catalog wherever you want to without raising any eyebrows.
Be better to put a cosomopolitan cover over the tool catalog and let her look at it . Maybe it would rub off some where .
Tim Mooney
Tim,
I think I'm going to try that. I'll let all know what happens.
Jon
Im confused . Taking the tool crib to the out house or letting your your wife ,..?
