Hi there. This is my first time in a chat room, but I love this new magazine, so I thought I would check out their website. I am in the process of starting to build a house and I would love to build a gymnasium over my garage. It is going to be a three car garage so the length is there, but I am having a tough time figuring out how to create enough height. Has anyone ever heard of anyone doing something like this?
Looking forward to any ideas.

Hi Char,
welcome to House Chat!
I don't know much about what you are planning to do, but it seems to me that a three car garage with a huge gym over top will easily look massive from the street, so finding techniques to let it fit in with your house and neighborhood will be something you should look into.
Good luck and keep posting!
PS. Do you have any pictures of what you are considering? and or what you currantly have in the space?
I forgot to add that you should post your question over at Breaktime. That is a much more active group than the one here at Home Chat.
If you have a two story house, the second floor over the garage would not look out of place. The home we lived in before this one had one unfinished room above the garage (a three-car one) which did not look out of place at all, because it was more like an extension of the second floor.
Things are going to get a lot worse before they get worse.

easily doable. But are you trying to accomplish this without the help of an architect or designer? It's a good idea to have some know how when stretching the envelope.
